Denver Police are continuing to investigate two serious incidents that unfolded in the city’s northern corridor, including a fatal shooting connected to an emergency response and a separate officer-involved shooting during a domestic violence call. According to the Denver Police Department, officers were first dispatched to the area near 46th Avenue and National Western Drive after receiving reports of a possible emergency situation. When officers arrived, they located an unresponsive individual at the scene. Authorities immediately secured the area as homicide investigators and personnel from the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner began processing evidence and examining the circumstances surrounding the death. Police confirmed that the case is currently being treated as an active death investigation. However, officials have not yet publicly identified the deceased individual, pending notification of family members. Investigators have also not confirmed whether foul play is suspected as detectives continue gathering evidence, reviewing witness accounts, and analyzing the scene. In a separate incident also confirmed by Denver Police, officers responding to a domestic violence-related call became involved in a confrontation with a suspect. Authorities stated that during the encounter, the suspect allegedly became physically combative with responding officers. During the struggle, one officer discharged a firearm, striking the individual. Emergency medical crews transported the suspect to a nearby hospital for treatment, but the individual later succumbed to injuries sustained during the shooting. Police confirmed that no officers were physically injured during the incident. As required under department procedures, the officer-involved shooting is now under formal review. The investigation will include an independent examination of evidence, witness statements, body-camera footage, and findings from the District Attorney’s Office. Officials emphasized that these reviews are standard protocol in all officer-involved fatal shootings. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased suspect involved in the domestic violence response. Officials say additional information will only be released once family notifications have been completed and investigators have reviewed critical evidence. The incidents prompted a significant police presence in the area as roads were temporarily secured and investigators worked throughout the day. Residents and commuters nearby reported seeing numerous police vehicles and emergency personnel around the scenes. Denver Police continue to urge anyone who may have witnessed either incident or who may possess surveillance footage or additional information to contact investigators. Detectives say witness cooperation and forensic evidence will be essential in determining the full sequence of events surrounding both ongoing investigations.
