Family, friends, and community members across Sumter County are mourning the tragic loss of Xavier Knight, affectionately known as “Spud Joee Dirt,” following a fatal train collision in Clarendon County on Sunday afternoon.

According to Clarendon County Fire Rescue, emergency crews responded at approximately 4:15 p.m. near Ramsal Road and June Burn Road after reports of a person being struck by a CSX train. Upon arrival, first responders discovered an individual who had sustained fatal injuries. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities later identified the victim as Xavier Knight of Sumter. Officials temporarily suspended train traffic while emergency personnel and investigators worked at the scene. No additional injuries were reported.

The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation, and authorities have not yet released further details regarding the events leading up to the incident.

As news of Knight’s passing spread, an outpouring of grief and support emerged from family members, friends, and community residents. Loved ones described him as a loyal friend, devoted family member, and vibrant personality whose presence left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
