Kevin Simmonds, longtime head coach of the Lambton College Women’s Soccer Program, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, leaving the Sarnia-Lambton community and the Lambton College athletics family in deep mourning.

Kevin was widely respected as a dedicated coach, mentor, and passionate advocate for soccer throughout the region. Over more than two decades of involvement in athletics, he played a significant role in shaping the Lambton Women’s Soccer Program and positively impacted countless student-athletes both on and off the field.

Known for his warm personality, encouraging nature, and genuine love for the game, Kevin built lasting relationships with players, fellow coaches, and community members. His leadership extended beyond competition, as he consistently promoted teamwork, respect, sportsmanship, and personal growth among those he coached.

Lambton College Athletics remembered Kevin as an important part of the school’s athletic community whose dedication helped strengthen women’s soccer at the college and contributed to the growth of the sport throughout the Sarnia-Lambton area.

In addition to his work with the Lambton Lions, Kevin was actively involved in local soccer initiatives, including his support of the Sarnia Girls Soccer Club. His commitment to youth development created opportunities for many young athletes and inspired a lifelong passion for soccer within the community.

Following news of his passing, tributes poured in from former players, coaching colleagues, and friends who remembered Kevin as a compassionate mentor, respected leader, and loyal friend. Many shared memories of his guidance, encouragement, and the positive influence he had on their lives.

Though his passing leaves a tremendous loss, Kevin Simmonds’ legacy will continue through the athletes he coached, the programs he helped build, and the community he served so faithfully.
